Nottingham Forest has entered the bidding for left-back Oso, but Sevilla FC has rejected their initial offer of six million euros. The club demands a much higher figure to let their academy player go.
The Sevilla FC board has made it clear that they will not give away one of their biggest prospects. The English Nottingham Forest has been the latest club to show interest in Joaquín Martínez Gauna, known in sports as Oso, but their initial proposal of six million euros has been outright rejected by the Nervión entity.
According to reports, the British club contacted Sevilla FC's offices directly to formalise their interest in the young left-back. However, the amount offered is far from the expectations of the Sevilla club, which considers Oso a present and future asset and would only accept an offer around twenty million euros.
The Premier League joins the bidding
The interest from Nottingham Forest adds to that of Fiorentina, which, according to Italian press, reportedly made an offer of twelve million euros. However, sources from the Sevilla club deny having received any official proposal from the Viola team. What is certain is that the market has set its sights on the Hispanic-Argentine full-back, who made a strong impact in LaLiga last season.
Currently, Sevilla FC has three players for the left-back position: Gabriel Suazo, Adrià Pedrosa, and Oso himself. Of these, the academy player has stood out the most, leading the board to make significant efforts to extend his contract, which expires in 2027. The intention is to secure the player and prevent him from leaving for an amount lower than his real value.
A sale that would finance reconstruction
Sevilla FC's stance on Oso is the same as it has maintained with other assets like Akor Adams or Rubén Vargas. The Nigerian forward will bring in nearly twenty million euros to the coffers heading to Venice, while a similar amount is sought for the Swiss winger after his great performance in the World Cup. With around forty million euros guaranteed, the technical secretariat would have a considerable budget to rebuild the squad for the upcoming season.
The possible sale of Oso or Juanlu Sánchez, who is highly sought after in Italian football, could further increase that amount. Sevilla fans will have to wait to see if the club decides to sell their jewel or manages to retain him, but what is clear is that he will not leave for a price that does not match his talent.
