Sandra and Sandro, owners of La Bodeguita de Pilato in Puerta de Carmona, will experience the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday with divided hearts: she will wear the albiceleste shirt for her Argentine husband, while their children and customers will cheer for La Roja.

The couple, made up of the Sevillian Sandra de los Santos and the Argentine Sandro Vergara, has run La Bodeguita de Pilato for four years, a wine and tapas bar located in the Puerta de Carmona, right in the heart of Seville's historic centre. There, next Sunday, one of the most unique moments in the history of the establishment will take place: the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2026 final between Spain and Argentina.

Known to their customers as Los Sandros, the couple has prepared the bar to welcome fans from both teams in a family-friendly and festive atmosphere. Sandra, a true Sevillian, confesses that her heart is divided, although she insists that the important thing is to enjoy the match surrounded by loved ones. “We don’t care who wins because Argentina and Spain are like sisters and share a common history,” she explains.

A bar without sides or bad vibes

The philosophy of La Bodeguita de Pilato is clear: good atmosphere and respect. During matches, disrespectful comments or attitudes are not tolerated. Sandra recalls an anecdote from the 2022 World Cup final when France faced Argentina: “Everyone here was supporting Argentina, but some French fans came in and we enjoyed the match a lot, even though they lost.”

For Sunday’s final, Sandra will wear the Argentina shirt in support of her husband, while her children and most of the customers will wear the La Roja shirt. Fun is guaranteed, and Sandra hopes the match will take place in a friendly atmosphere. “Spain has a top-level team, but for us, it’s already a victory to experience this together,” she states.

From Andorra to Puerta de Carmona: the story of Los Sandros

The love story of Sandra and Sandro began over 30 years ago in Andorra, where she worked at a ski resort and he as a mountain rescuer. After several months of dating, they moved to Seville, where they got married and put down roots. In 2022, both unemployed, they decided to invest all their savings in a joint project: La Bodeguita de Pilato, a grocery store with homemade stews and traditional tapas.

The establishment, which operates as a wine and tapas bar, offers dishes such as cod with tomato, chickpeas with oxtail, potato salad, or snails in season. But one of its most characteristic details is the personalised jugs: cans that each customer hangs with their name next to the bar, so they always have their drink at hand. A nod to tradition that has won over the local residents.

On Sunday, La Bodeguita de Pilato will open its doors to welcome everyone who wants to share the final. Sandra and Sandro hope it will be an unforgettable day, with good vibes as their banner. And as Sandra says, “we have already won by being able to enjoy a final like this surrounded by our people.”
