Mayor Juan Manuel Valle supervises the final preparations of the fairground, which will open from 24 to 27 September with 62 booths and a redesigned entrance measuring 21.5 metres wide. The lighting will be switched on early on Wednesday 23 at 21:00 hours.
The fairground of Los Palacios y Villafranca is in its final hours of setup. The mayor, Juan Manuel Valle, accompanied by the delegate for Festivities and Tourism, Juan Manuel Bernal, toured the facilities this morning to check the status of an infrastructure that this year will feature 62 booths.
The 2026 Fair will take place from 24 to 27 September. Various municipal departments are working together to finalise the details, as explained by the mayor himself, who acknowledged the effort involved in the hours leading up to the opening.
“We have come from very intense pre-fair activities, with a spectacular weekend, and now we are tying up all the loose ends that a large infrastructure like our fairground requires.”
The Town Hall has strengthened services for cleaning, security, lighting, maintenance, and emergencies, in coordination with the booth operators. Valle also emphasised the economic importance of the event for the municipality, due to the activity it generates in hospitality, commerce, hairdressing, flamenco fashion, footwear, the equestrian world, and professional services.
“It is the event of the year that mobilises the most people and generates significant economic activity in our municipality.”
The main novelty of this edition is the new configuration of the entrance, which incorporates an additional arch to the traditional design and reaches 21.5 metres in width. The aim is to provide a renewed and more visually appealing image for visitors.
The lighting ceremony will take place on Wednesday 23 September starting at 21:00 hours, while the lighting of the entrance and the Real is scheduled for 21:30 hours. The City Council has decided to bring this moment forward compared to previous editions so that residents and visitors can gather around the entrance and enjoy the start of the Fair before the traditional fish dinners. This measure responds, according to the mayor, to a request made by numerous residents.
Those participating in the lighting will be the presidents of the football clubs of Los Palacios y Villafranca and the Municipal Football School, in recognition of their work in the sports training of children and young people throughout the year.
“Many times those who work in the youth academy go unnoticed, but more than a thousand boys and girls pass through their hands each year, not only being trained in sports but also to become better people.”
Valle has highlighted the work of the youth academy in the municipality, birthplace of footballers such as Jesús Navas, Fabián Ruiz, and Gavi, all three internationals with the Spanish national team.
The security device will include the presence and coordination of Security Forces and Bodies, health services, and emergency teams, according to the planned action plan. The Punto Violeta will remain for information, prevention, and assistance in the event of possible gender-based violence, and, as a new feature, wristbands will be introduced to detect potential cases of drug-facilitated sexual assault, promoted by the Equality Delegation.
“We want our Fair to be a peaceful Fair, where everyone can come and enjoy in safety, but we are reinforcing all services to respond to any situation.”
There will also be a booth for lost children and specific measures in the amusement area to enhance the enjoyment of minors and individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). On Thursday 24 September, a local holiday and Children’s Day, the Amusement Park will offer affordable prices and will maintain a time slot without music throughout the Fair, from 19:00 to 21:00 hours, for those particularly sensitive to sound stimuli.
The mayor has encouraged residents and visitors to enjoy an event that follows an intense pre-fair programme and will once again feature the main attractions of community spirit, the booths, and the traditional horse parade.
“We hope the weather will be on our side and that we can enjoy these days of togetherness, welcome the thousands of people coming from other towns, and experience our Fair with peace and harmony.”
