The Municipal Theatre Calixto Sánchez in Mairena del Alcor has installed a new blue curtain as part of the cultural space's modernisation plan.

The Municipal Theatre Calixto Sánchez in Mairena del Alcor has unveiled a new blue curtain that now adorns the stage. This initiative is part of the strategic plan for the continuous improvement and renewal of the municipality's cultural facilities, aimed at providing the highest quality and comfort for both the audience and the artistic companies.

This intervention continues the improvements initiated in recent years. In 2023, the air conditioning system was renewed, and during the Christmas period of 2024-2025, the venue experienced one of its most significant phases with the complete renovation of the seating area. This work enhanced the comfort, accessibility, and capacity of the venue, according to municipal sources.

In addition to the curtain, the adaptation plan has included the renewal of the flooring, textile elements, and comfort features for the audience. These actions aim to ensure that the theatre remains a reference space adapted to the technical and operational demands of the current cultural landscape.

The next phase of the project will focus on modernising the lighting systems and technical equipment, as well as further improvements in accessibility. The Mairena del Alcor Town Hall has reaffirmed its commitment to cultural development, consolidating the Calixto Sánchez Theatre as a modern and functional facility.

The new curtain not only enhances the aesthetics of the stage but also serves essential technical functions for performances. With this addition, the theatre updates a traditional element that, besides its symbolic value, contributes to the acoustics and atmosphere of the shows.

The residents of Mairena del Alcor and nearby municipalities will be able to enjoy the new curtain in the upcoming cultural programmes. The theatre, named after the flamenco singer Calixto Sánchez, who is from the locality, is one of the main cultural hubs of Los Alcores.

The Town Hall anticipates that the modernisation works will continue in the coming months, with lighting and technical equipment as the next objectives. These investments aim to ensure that the theatre can host all types of performances with maximum technical and comfort guarantees.
