The Mairena del Alcor Town Council is investing nearly €150,000 to improve the green area of the Gandul Industrial Estate, with new shade platforms, picnic areas, and trees. The works, which started a few weeks ago, will be completed by the end of this year.

The Councillor for Urban Planning of Mairena del Alcor, Santiago Mauri, has detailed the renovation and improvement works being carried out in the green area of the Gandul Industrial Estate. The work began a few weeks ago, and the aim is to transform this large area into a more livable and functional space for the rest of the workers in the estate and the general public.

The project includes the creation of several platforms equipped with shade structures and picnic areas, as well as the planting of new trees to make the environment enjoyable throughout the year.

The investment amounts to around €150,000 and is channelled through the Stable Employment Plan. The work is being carried out through administrative works, with financing that combines the Mairena del Alcor Town Council's own resources and contributions from the Seville Provincial Council, the Andalusian Government, and the Ministry. This model allows for the direct hiring of local labour.

According to municipal forecasts, the works will conclude by the end of this year. The intervention aims to improve a space that previously lacked facilities for the rest and stay of those who work daily in the industrial estate.

"With an investment close to €150,000 channelled through the Stable Employment Plan, the work is being carried out through administrative works. The financing includes contributions from the Town Council's own resources, as well as from the Seville Provincial Council, the Andalusian Government, and the Ministry, which allows for the direct hiring of local labour," explained Santiago Mauri.

The works are part of other improvements in the industrial environment of Mairena del Alcor and respond to a long-standing demand from the workers in the area, who have been calling for shaded and resting areas.
