The Town Hall of Mairena del Alcor has organised European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22, with activities in schools, a 'Car-Free Day' in El Prior, and inclusive workshops with AMEE and APRODI.
The European Mobility Week arrives in Mairena del Alcor with a programme that combines road safety education, family leisure, and citizen participation. The initiative, promoted by the Mobility Delegation led by Councillor Ana Guillén, will take place from September 16 to 22 under the slogan “Mobility for all people”.
This year, the council has coordinated the schedule with educational centres and local entities. A key new feature is the inclusion of awareness workshops with pictograms and adapted mobility dynamics, designed alongside the associations AMEE and APRODI to ensure the participation of all residents.
The programme will kick off in Primary schools. On Wednesday, September 16, it will visit CEIP Manuel Romero Arregui, CEIP San Bartolomé, and CEIP Antonio González. The following day, Thursday 17, it will be the turn of CEIP Isabel Rodríguez Navarro and CEIP Huerta Retiro. On Friday 18, the school round will conclude with CEIP Juan Caraballo and CEIP Isabel Esquivel.
The highlight for families will come on Saturday, September 19 with the “Car-Free Day”, which will be held from 11:00 to 14:00 in plaza Antonio Gavira Alba, in El Prior. The day will transform this space into a vehicle-free meeting point, featuring tents, themed games such as a giant mobility game, circuits, and workshops. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bicycles and scooters.
In Secondary schools, on Monday, September 21, 4th-year ESO students from IES María Inmaculada will participate, and on Tuesday 22, students from IES Los Alcores will do the same.
The programme will conclude on Wednesday, September 23 with adapted workshops and sessions alongside users and members of AMEE and APRODI. Through these activities, the Town Hall aims to engage the entire population in safer and more accessible mobility.
