The Town Hall of Lebrija has once again joined the campaign 'Tolerance Extinguishes Hate', promoted by the Movement Against Intolerance, on the occasion of European Day in Memory of the Victims of Hate Crimes. As a symbolic gesture, during the night of this July 22, two of its most emblematic sites will be illuminated in blue: the facade of the Town Hall and the monument to Elio Antonio de Nebrija.
This action, celebrated nationally, aims to highlight the collective commitment against hate and to remember all those who have suffered crimes motivated by racism, xenophobia, LGTBIfobia, antisemitism or any other form of discrimination. The campaign, which reaches its sixth edition in 2026, invites institutions and citizens to symbolically light the 'Light of Tolerance' by illuminating public buildings.
The date of July 22 was chosen by the Council of Europe in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks in Oslo and the island of Utøya, which occurred in 2011. Since then, this day has become a time for reflection and prevention of hate speech.
With this initiative, the Town Hall of Lebrija reaffirms its commitment to the defense of human rights and democratic coexistence. The Town Council encourages residents to join the message of unity and to promote respect for diversity, equal opportunities, and democratic values.
