The mayor of Osuna, Rosario Andújar, and the rector of the University of Seville, Carmen Vargas, have announced the start of the processing for the new double degree in Business Administration and Finance and Accounting for the local University School.
The University School of Osuna will add a new qualification to its academic offerings. The Board of the Public Foundation of University Studies 'Francisco Maldonado' has approved the initiation of the procedures to implement the double degree in Business Administration (ADE) and Finance and Accounting (FICO). The announcement was made this Thursday following the board meeting, chaired by the mayor of Osuna, Rosario Andújar, and attended by the rector of the University of Seville, Carmen Vargas, who was participating officially for the first time.
A double degree that complements the existing offer
The new qualification, as explained by Andújar, has already received the green light from the involved faculties —Economic and Business Sciences, and Administration and Finance— and only requires final approval from the Governing Council of the University of Seville. The expectation is that it will be ratified in September of this year, as confirmed by Rector Vargas.
“This new education will complement the existing academic offerings and will continue to strengthen the growth of the university centre,” declared the mayor. Andújar emphasized that it is “a fully complementary qualification” that will have “an excellent reception among students.” The foundation's governing team continues to work to consolidate the qualifications already implemented and expand the offerings with studies that provide added value.
For her part, Rector Vargas described the new double degree as “a step forward for the University School of Osuna”, as it will enrich its offerings and respond to a growing demand from students. Vargas reaffirmed the University of Seville's commitment to continue working jointly with the affiliated centre to progressively expand its map of qualifications.
Historic meeting with four rectors of the US
The board meeting had a special character as it brought together, for the first time, the last four rectors of the University of Seville. Alongside the current rector, Miguel Ángel Castro, Joaquín Luque, and Antonio Ramírez Arellano participated. The mayor described this circumstance as “a luxury, a pleasure, and also a guarantee of the ties that the University School of Osuna maintains with the University of Seville.”
Rector Vargas thanked the reception and highlighted the work of her predecessors, emphasizing the commitment that all have shown to the University School of Osuna. She assured that they will continue collaborating from the Board to further promote the development of the centre.
Pre-registration data and international mobility
During the meeting, provisional data on pre-registration and enrolment for the 2026-2027 academic year were also analysed. The evolution of demand in the various qualifications offered by the University School was studied. Additionally, a balance was made of the increase in international mobility of students and faculty, a strategic line that is yielding positive results thanks to the Erasmus and SICUE programmes.
Another aspect addressed was the centre's commitment to research and improving faculty qualifications. The mayor highlighted the work of the teaching staff, recalling that three professors have recently obtained new academic accreditations, an example of the commitment to educational quality.
The University School of Osuna, an affiliated centre of the University of Seville, continues to expand its training offerings. The new double degree in ADE and FICO adds to the existing qualifications and reinforces the centre's position as a university reference in the region. Interested students will be able to pursue this double qualification once the Governing Council of the US gives its final approval, expected next September.
