The Espartinas Town Council has put out to tender the Roundabout Rehabilitation Programme, which will act on seven existing roundabouts and construct a new one on Jara Street. The first phase has a budget of 300,000 euros from its own funds.
The Town Council of Espartinas has published the tender for the Roundabout Rehabilitation Programme, an initiative that will be developed in three phases and aims to improve the functionality, landscape, and urban integration of several roundabouts in the urban core, as well as to build new roundabouts to organise traffic.
The first phase is already underway and includes interventions on seven existing roundabouts and the construction of a new one. In total, there are eight points of action: Camino de Mejina, Jardines de la Alhambra (known as the Mercadona roundabout), Avenida Presidente Adolfo Suárez, Avenida de Huelva, Camino de la Marquesa, Jara Street (new construction), Carlos Cano, and the access to the A-8076 (Espartinas roundabout).
The programme is not limited to the urban area: it also includes roundabouts located on the A-8076 road, a route that connects the municipality with other towns in the Aljarafe region.
Of the seven roundabouts to be reformed, four are small in size and are located along the same urban axis. Sharing geometry and function, the City Council has opted for a common solution using durable materials, high-resistance granite pavements, and low maintenance. The aim is to provide a coherent image for the whole, facilitate municipal maintenance, and achieve good integration with the surroundings.
The other four roundabouts, including the new one on Jara Street, are larger, with diameters close to ten metres, and occupy strategic positions in the urban layout. Due to their greater visibility, a more representative landscaping solution has been designed, featuring more ornamental vegetation and Mediterranean-inspired compositions.
The first phase of the programme has a budget of 300,000 euros, which will be funded by the Town Council's own resources. The tender is already published, so interested companies can submit their bids. It is expected that the works will begin in the coming months and will improve road safety and the image of the municipality's access points.
