The Unión Deportiva Rinconada knows what it means to win in Division of Honour. They achieved this in their first away match of the season, at the ground of CD Montalbeño, also newly promoted, in a game that Raúl Carmona's side controlled from the outset, finishing 1-2.
The coach had to reorganise the defence due to the absences of both starting centre-backs, Manu Gallardo and Ismael Cortés. The team's response was a solid eleven that kept the Córdoba attack at bay for much of the match.
Rinconada took the initiative almost from the opening whistle. They lacked the finishing touch until, four minutes before half-time, Domi opened the scoring with a goal that left the Montalbán de Córdoba side reeling.
After the break, with Montalbeño pushing for an equaliser, Sedeño extended the lead in the 47th minute. The goal gave the visitors a boost, although the hosts reduced the deficit from the penalty spot in the 68th, making for a tense finish to the match.
The three points allow Rinconada to make their mark in the standings of a demanding category and relieve the pressure of securing their first victory. Their next challenge will be at home against another newly promoted team, Almodóvar del Río, providing another opportunity to continue accumulating points in a project that has just begun.
