The eighth week of concerts, from August 11 to 15, offers five proposals that explore different ways of understanding music, united by the personality of their performers and original creations. The cycle is designed to discover new voices and enjoy music in the gardens of the Real Alcázar.
On Tuesday, August 11, the singer María José Pérez will perform, accompanied by guitarist Alberto López, with the recital “El duende del atardecer,” which champions the essence of flamenco through the dialogue between voice and guitar. The programme traverses various traditional styles, combining expressive intensity, sensitivity, and authenticity. Recognised with the Lámpara Minera, among other awards, María José Pérez is one of the most valued voices in contemporary flamenco, while Alberto López is among the most prominent guitarists of his generation.
On Wednesday, August 12, Alicia Camiña will perform, presenting “El jazmín de mi patio,” a concert inspired by her latest album, where jazz dialogues with flamenco from a personal perspective. Accompanied by pianist Julia Dueñas Barragán and drummer José Gómez, she offers a repertoire of original compositions in which improvisation, creative freedom, and Andalusian tradition coexist naturally. Trained at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Camiña develops her career between Spain and the United States. Her previous album, “Somewhere in My Dreams,” was nominated for the Grammy Awards.
On Thursday, August 13, Pájaro Guitar Duo will perform. Andrés Herrera “El Pájaro” and Raúl Fernández present “Las Criaturas,” a concert for two guitars and voice that combines original compositions with versions of songs linked to their career. The programme traverses a sound universe where rock, surf, Italian swing, and root music converge. After nearly three decades sharing stages, both musicians bring a complicity built alongside artists such as Pata Negra, Raimundo Amador, Silvio, or El Lebrijano. In 2012, they launched the “Pájaro” project, with which they have developed a proposal recognised for its personality and creative freedom.
On Friday, August 14, Andrés Iwasaki will perform, presenting “Bajo la luna, bajo mi techo,” a concert of original compositions inspired by the first verses of “Estoy aquí.” The repertoire explores memory, childhood, affections, and personal search, constructing an intimate universe where word and music dialogue with poetic sensitivity. Iwasaki began writing songs in 2013 and gave his first concerts in England two years later. His participation in La Voz España in 2019 boosted his career, continued with the release of “Al margen de ojalá” (2021). Since then, he has consolidated his own project alongside Carlos González, Mauri Rigo, and Violeta Salvador.
On Saturday, August 15, Rusted will perform, a trio proposing a meeting between Atlantic folk, the energy of rock, and electronic textures. Formed by flautist and producer Rubén Díez de la Cortina, multi-instrumentalist Mangu Díaz, and guitarist John Conde, the group brings together experiences linked to traditional music, rock, jazz, and world music. Concertina, bouzouki, banjo, flute, and guitar create a soundscape of great timbral richness, where popular roots dialogue with new forms of expression.
