The territorial delegate for Education, Miguel Ángel Araúz, visited the centre to supervise the works, which include bioclimatisation, air conditioning, windows, and digital equipment.

IES Maestro Diego Llorente, in Los Palacios and Villafranca, has received a financial boost of nearly 600,000 euros since 2022. The investment, executed by the Department of Educational Development, has allowed the institute to modernise with improvements in climate control, energy efficiency, and digitalisation. The territorial delegate, Miguel Ángel Araúz, visited the centre this Wednesday to check the results.

Bioclimatisation and solar panels: the flagship plan

The most substantial intervention has been the Bioclimatisation and Renewable Energy Programme, with 329,499 euros. The institute now has an adiabatic cooling system and a photovoltaic solar energy installation. According to the Junta, this intervention improves the thermal comfort of classrooms and reduces electricity consumption, while also moving towards a more sustainable model.

The delegate highlighted that "the government of Juanma Moreno is making the largest investment effort in recent years to modernise educational centres in Andalusia." He cited IES Maestro Diego Llorente as an example, where "efficient management of public resources translates into more sustainable centres that are better prepared for the challenges of the 21st century."

Cooler in summer and less noise: 17 air conditioners and 22 new windows

The Thermal Comfort programme has accounted for an additional 39,485 euros. Seventeen air conditioning units have been installed, 22 windows and closures have been replaced, and part of the heating system has been renewed with five new radiators and repairs to the existing system. Neighbours in the area, who see the centre from the street, will notice less noise thanks to the new glass, and students will be able to study without overheating in spring.

Additionally, the Improve Your Centre Plan contributes 28,280 euros for conservation and repair work on the building. All of this adds up to ensure that the institute is in the best possible condition.

Digitalisation: 139,000 euros in technology for classrooms

Digital transformation has not been left behind. Through the Digital Provision programme, the centre has received technological equipment worth 139,121 euros. This includes devices and resources for students and teachers to enhance their digital competence. "When investments are properly planned and executed responsibly, the results are visible," Araúz stated.

The delegate toured the facilities and congratulated the management team for their handling of the funds. The Junta emphasised that these actions are part of a larger effort to modernise the network of public centres in the province of Seville, improving infrastructure and promoting energy sustainability.

For the parents and students of Los Palacios, this news comes as a relief: the institute, dating back to the 1990s, needed an update. The works are now complete, and next term students will be able to enjoy cooler, quieter, and better-connected classrooms.
