The summer pool of Mairena del Alcor hosted the final of the Provincial Swimming Circuit, where the local team won 13 medals. About 400 swimmers from 27 municipalities participated in the event.
The summer pool of Mairena del Alcor was yesterday the venue for the joint final of the 2026 Summer Provincial Swimming Circuit, an event organised by the Seville Swimming Federation and the Seville Provincial Council that brought together around 400 swimmers from 27 municipalities in the province.
The competition was structured by categories. In the prebenjamín category, 25 metre races were held in all four strokes, as well as 4x25 metre relays in styles and freestyle. From benjamín to youth, the events were 50 metres in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, with 4x50 metre relays in styles and freestyle.
The Mairena del Alcor delegation delivered an outstanding performance by winning 13 medals: 4 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze. Among the individual medalists, Antonio Santos Figueroa stood out, reaching the top of the podium in 50 metre breaststroke, 50 metre freestyle, and 50 metre butterfly.
Julia Alba Postigo also shone, winning gold in 50 metre butterfly and 50 metre freestyle. The individual medal tally was completed by Isabel Aparicio Vallejo, with two medals in backstroke and butterfly; Juan Carlos Benítez López, in butterfly; Laura Santos Figueroa, in breaststroke; and Hugo Gil Martínez, also in butterfly.
In the relays, the local club won medals in the 4x50 metre benjamín female styles, 4x50 metre alevín female freestyle, 4x50 metre alevín female styles, and 4x50 metre cadet male styles events.
The Sports Delegation of Mairena del Alcor has congratulated the swimmers and their coaches and families for their effort and the results achieved, which once again place the municipality among the most prominent in the provincial circuit.
