The Town Hall of Tomares has launched a course on Occupational Risk Prevention in the masonry specialty, endorsed by the Construction Labour Foundation. Registration ends this Thursday, October 1, and there are 20 places available.
The Town Hall of Tomares has opened registration for the course “Occupational Risk Prevention, Construction Agreement, Masonry Specialty”, a free and basic training to work as a mason. The deadline is this Thursday, October 1, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the 20 places are filled.
The course, endorsed by the Construction Labour Foundation, will take place from October 6 to 8, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at the Municipal Training Classroom of Vera Cruz, located at Avenida del Mediterráneo, s/n. It lasts for 20 hours and is aimed at residents of Tomares, with preference given to those available on those dates and times.
Students will learn to identify the occupational risks specific to the masonry trade, apply safe working techniques, and understand good preventive practices to avoid or minimise damage during construction. The programme includes collective and individual protective measures, signage, handling of chemical products, first aid, emergency measures, and specific techniques for facades, partitioning, and materials such as ceramics, plasterboard, or plaster.
This initiative is part of the annual programme “Tomares Capacita 2026”, fully funded by the Town Hall through its Local Development Agency (ADL). A total of six free courses have been organised for residents, which will specialise 95 locals. The offerings include “Housekeeping” (50 hours with 5 hours of hotel practice), “Administrative Assistant – Billing” (60 hours), “Front Forklift” (8 hours), “Spreadsheet Software Applications: Advanced Level + Automation with AI” (80 hours), and “Certified Food Handler” (5 hours).
“The aim is to provide residents with training, skills in key competencies of the current job market, and specialisation in current professions or those with job demand,” according to sources from the Town Hall of Tomares.
Interested individuals must formalise their registration before October 1 at the Local Development Agency of the Town Hall of Tomares. Places will be allocated on a strict first-come, first-served basis, so residents are advised not to leave the process until the last moment. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certification that will allow them to access jobs in the construction sector.
