The Town Hall of Tomares, in collaboration with the Casa del Blues of Seville, has scheduled the second edition of its International Blues Festival for Saturday, September 19. Californian Tia Carroll, nominated for the BMA, will be the star of the lineup.
The best blues will once again resonate in Tomares on Saturday, September 19. The Jardines del Conde of the Hacienda Santa Ana will host, starting at 12:30 PM, the II International Blues Festival, organised by the Town Hall in collaboration with the Casa del Blues of Seville. The big star will be Californian Tia Carroll, considered one of the most powerful voices in the genre.
Tickets are already on sale at www.tomarestickets.com. The general price is €20, while residents of Tomares and members of the Casa del Blues will pay €15. Doors will open at 12:30 PM, and the festival will last throughout the day.
A legendary voice for the lineup
Tia Carroll, born in Richmond (California) in 1958, is one of the great divas of contemporary blues, soul, and gospel. Her latest work, “You gotta have it” (2021), was nominated for Best Blues Album at the BMA in Memphis and at the Blast Music Awards. Throughout her career, she has shared the stage with legends such as Ray Charles, B.B. King, and Patti LaBelle.
Her stage presence is overwhelming. With a powerful and passionate style, inspired by Koko Taylor, Aretha Franklin, and Tina Turner, Carroll promises to make the Jardines del Conde vibrate. For the residents of Tomares, it is a unique opportunity to enjoy an international artist without leaving the municipality.
A luxury lineup with national and international bands
In addition to Tia Carroll, the festival will bring together eight more bands. Lluís Coloma Trío & Kid Carlos unite Europe’s most virtuosic boogie-woogie pianist with Sevillian guitarist Kid Carlos. Quique Gómez & His Vipers bring the classic sound of Chicago electric blues, a city where the harmonica player has frequently toured.
Quique Bonal & Kid Carlos will offer a high-level string duel. Q & The Moonstones, led by Gaditan guitarist Rick A. Bowen, mix blues, R&B, soul, and swing. Completing the lineup are Lightning Band, La Manso & Blues Sapiens, and Slowhand, a direct nod to Eric Clapton.
Last year, the first edition was a complete success, featuring figures like Matt Schofield and Kid Carlos Band. This year, the Town Hall wanted to repeat the formula, betting on a combination of established artists and local talent. For the audience of Tomares and Aljarafe, it is an unmissable event for blues lovers.
A festival that is growing and consolidating
The II International Blues Festival of Tomares is establishing itself as a reference event in the province of Seville. The collaboration with the Casa del Blues guarantees a top-level lineup, with artists who regularly perform at major European festivals. Attendees will be able to enjoy live music throughout the day, in a unique setting like the Jardines del Conde.
Tickets can be purchased in advance on the municipal website. It is recommended to buy them early, as capacity is limited and last year they sold out. Additionally, residents of Tomares have a special discount, a detail that the Town Hall maintains to encourage local participation.
The festival will kick off at 12:30 PM and will continue well into the night. There will be a bar service and food trucks so that attendees can eat and drink without leaving the venue. A perfect opportunity to spend a different Saturday, with good music and a festive atmosphere.
