Since July 26, the Jardines del Conde in Tomares have hosted the traditional pavías of the Sacramental Brotherhood, for charitable purposes.
The pavías, a classic of local cuisine, have returned to Tomares. Since last Friday, July 26, locals and visitors can enjoy this dish at Los Jardines del Conde, the town hall's venue, every Friday and Saturday until August 8, starting at 21:00 hours. The initiative, organised by the Sacramental Brotherhood, combines culinary tradition and solidarity.
This summer event, which has become part of the municipality's cultural agenda, brings together families and friends around one of Tomares' most emblematic recipes each year. The women of the brotherhood are responsible for keeping this tradition alive, preparing the pavías with care and dedication. The setting of Los Jardines del Conde, under the starlight, creates an ideal atmosphere for sharing good moments.
The proceeds are entirely allocated to the Social Work of the Sacramental Brotherhood, which carries out actions to assist people in vulnerable situations. Thus, each tasting contributes to a good cause. In addition to the pavías, attendees can try the so-called “camisetas” of hake or cod, a variant with a thinner layer of flour, as well as a wide range of homemade tapas at popular prices.
Among the gastronomic offerings, dishes such as potato salad, marinated meat, skewers, prawn montaditos, or the traditional “Veracruz”, made with fillet, salmorejo, and ham, stand out. The event will continue over the next weekends until Saturday, August 8, with the exception of Saturday, July 25, coinciding with the celebration of the Night of the 51st Flamenco Festival “Ciudad de Tomares”.
This tradition, which dates back decades, has become a summer staple in Tomares, attracting people from all over the Aljarafe region. In previous editions, attendance has exceeded expectations, solidifying the event as a must-attend occasion. For those wishing to attend, it is recommended to arrive early to secure a table, as the popularity of the event often fills the venue.
In short, the pavías of Tomares not only offer a gastronomic delight but also allow for collaboration with a charitable cause, in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. The event takes place every Friday and Saturday until August 8, from 21:00 to 23:30 hours, at Los Jardines del Conde.
