Sanlúcar la Mayor will be the venue on Saturday, November 14, for the V Congress of Singular Nazarenas Brotherhoods, with the poster already presented at the Archdiocese of Seville.

The V Congress of Singular Nazarenas Brotherhoods will be hosted by the Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus Nazareno of Sanlúcar la Mayor. The event will bring together representatives from these corporations of the Archdiocese of Seville on Saturday, November 14. The poster for the meeting was presented on Thursday, November 5 at the Archdiocese of Seville.

During the event, Manuel Jesús Reyes, the elder brother of the Sanlúcar corporation, Vicente Romero, president of the Congregation of Singular Nazarenas Brotherhoods, and the mayor, Raúl Castilla, accompanied by the delegate for Major Festivals, Eduardo Jacob Macías, spoke.

The poster features two photographs from the mid-20th century of the corporation. As Reyes explained, the lower image depicts the staging of the Verónica, a rite that the town still maintains today as part of the sermon. One of the children in that image is currently one of the oldest brothers.

Romero noted that the Brotherhood of Jesus Nazareno of Morón de la Frontera and the Brotherhood of Silence of Seville are participating for the first time. He also recalled that the minutes of each congress are published annually with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Seville.

“This congress will allow us to share part of the history of Sanlúcar la Mayor, especially our identity, who we were and who we aspire to be”

Castilla thanked the initiative and expressed the municipal corporation's support for the congress and the brotherhood. He also highlighted the value of the poster, which features his father as a child, linking it to the memories of many locals.

The sessions will take place at the Casa de la Cultura, in its Congress Hall, and at the church of San Pedro. The day will start at nine-thirty in the morning with registration and the distribution of credentials.

The inaugural lecture, titled “Lift Your Eyes: Following the Footsteps of Jesus Nazareno, Disciples for the Mission,” will be given by the Archbishop of Seville, Monsignor José Ángel Saiz Meneses. Following this, Andrés Luque Teruel, a professor of Art History at the University of Seville, and journalist Manuel María Pérez-Cano will speak.

After lunch, the program continues at the church of San Pedro with the exercise of the Five Wounds, featuring the choir Cantate Domino. There, the venue for the VI Congress will be announced, the closing ceremony will take place, and a besapiés will be held.

To conclude, the congress participants will accompany the processional transfer of Jesus Nazareno from San Pedro to his chapel, where they will visit the heritage exhibition of the corporation.
