The Local Police of Espartinas detained an individual early this morning accused of an alleged crime of robbery and assault against authority. The events occurred around 4:50 AM, when officers, who were maintaining surveillance on this person, stopped a man carrying several packages.
At that moment, the suspect attacked one of the officers, who was quickly subdued and handcuffed. The robbery had been committed at a mobile phone store in the locality, and 36 packages were recovered, including several phones.
The detainee, who goes by the initials D. G. S., has already been brought before the courts. According to municipal sources, the Police had been tracking him for several days after he was involved in several altercations in the municipality and has several arrests to his name.
The swift action of the officers allowed for the recovery of the stolen material and prevented the alleged perpetrator from evading justice. The Espartinas Town Council has expressed gratitude for the work of the Local Police and reminds residents of the importance of collaborating in the prevention of such incidents.
