The Seniors area of the La Rinconada City Council launches a new edition of cognitive stimulation workshops between September and December 2026 at the CPAs 20 de Julio and Pablo Picasso.

The two Active Participation Centres of La Rinconada, 20 de Julio and Pablo Picasso, are hosting a new edition of memory stimulation workshops from this September until December 2026. The activity is organized by the Seniors area of the La Rinconada City Council in collaboration with the Cognitive Stimulation Centre of La Rinconada, managed by the Alzheimer Association AFA La Vega.

The program consists of 6 hours per week, divided into small groups of a maximum of 10 people. This limit aims to ensure personalized attention for each user. Before joining, participants undergo an individual assessment interview and standardized cognitive tests that allow the content to be tailored to their abilities.

The working method combines the traditional paper-and-pencil format with group interaction dynamics. The sessions focus on functions such as memory, attention, calculation, language, perception, and orientation, with a practical approach. The workshops are conducted by qualified professionals with experience in non-pharmacological therapies from the stimulation centre.

The delegate for Seniors, Noelia Ramírez, visited one of the groups at the CPA Pablo Picasso to check on the progress of the activity.

"Attending a memory workshop does not mean having cognitive decline, but rather proactively caring for and protecting our brain health. It is important for our seniors to maintain their mental agility, autonomy, and independence, achieving a fully active aging and preventing social isolation."

Among the objectives of this edition are to maintain the autonomy and daily functionality of participants, to comprehensively stimulate their executive functions, and to reinforce the social and emotional environment. In this last aspect, the program aims to strengthen interpersonal relationships and combat unwanted loneliness.

The organization reminds that scientific evidence indicates that up to 45% of dementia cases can be prevented or delayed by addressing risk factors. The workshops will take place in the two CPAs of the municipality during the last quarter of the year.
