Seville City Council is deploying more uniformed officers in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood this week to deter thefts and quickly assist residents and tourists. Hoteliers and the council are coordinating the plan in a meeting.
The Local Police of Seville has activated a reinforcement of uniformed officers in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, in the Casco Antiguo district. The aim is to complement the work of plainclothes officers already operating in the area and to increase police visibility as a deterrent measure.
The Security delegate of the Seville City Council, Ignacio Flores, and the delegate of the Casco Antiguo district, Amidea Navarro, held a working meeting with the Association of Hoteliers of the Santa Cruz Neighbourhood to coordinate the new measures. The head of the Local Police, Antonio Luis Moreno, also attended the meeting and detailed the reinforcement plan.
The deployment includes the addition of new officers to the Tourist Police Unit, a measure that hoteliers have particularly valued. According to representatives of the sector, the presence of these officers allows for quicker and more direct attention to the demands of citizens and visitors.
Hoteliers expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for the increase in police presence and for the attention received from various municipal services.
"This government team works in a coordinated manner from the districts, which are the first contact with residents, to the delegations that, as in this case, always try to meet the requests of residents and merchants to improve coexistence," stated Security delegate Ignacio Flores.
The measure comes after demands from residents and merchants in the area, who requested more police presence in light of thefts and other disturbances. The reinforcement aims to improve coexistence in one of the city's most tourist-heavy neighbourhoods.
The plan will be maintained indefinitely and will be periodically evaluated by the Local Police and the Casco Antiguo district to adjust the number of officers according to needs. Residents and hoteliers will be able to communicate their requests through the usual channels of the district.
