The municipal council has unanimously approved the temporary and free allocation of 180 square meters to the Association of Friends of the Three Wise Men to expand their warehouse on Guadiamar Street.
The Mairena del Alcor Town Hall has given the green light to the allocation of a municipal plot of 180.17 square meters to the Association of Friends of the Three Wise Men. The land, located at number 1 Guadiamar Street, borders the warehouse that the entity has been using since 2008. The decision, adopted unanimously in the council, will allow the association to expand its storage space and improve the logistics of one of the most emblematic parades in Andalusia.
A boost to the Three Kings Parade tradition
The Association of Friends of the Three Wise Men has been working for decades to make the Mairena del Alcor Parade a benchmark. Every January 5th, thousands of people gather to enjoy a parade that has been key in promoting the tourism and culture of the municipality. With more space, the entity will be able to store floats, costumes, and decorations that have until now been kept in precarious conditions.
The Town Hall emphasizes that the association's activity has an undeniable public and social interest. It not only keeps a rooted tradition alive but also energizes social life and attracts visitors from the entire region. The allocation, according to municipal sources, reinforces the commitment to the local associative fabric.
Conditions of the allocation until 2038
The agreement establishes that the allocation will be free but temporary. The term extends until November 14, 2038, coinciding with the end of the original concession of the main warehouse. The association must use the land exclusively for the expansion of the warehouse, present an execution project, and bear all costs of works, licenses, permits, and maintenance.
For the residents of Mairena del Alcor, this expansion guarantees that the parade will continue to grow in quality. The current warehouse, allocated in 2008, had become too small given the volume of material the association handles. The new area will allow, for example, the repair of floats throughout the year without relying on external spaces.
The Town Hall recalls that the entity has demonstrated solvency and responsibility in managing the current warehouse. Therefore, the expansion is being processed swiftly and without political opposition. The unanimity in the council reflects the social support for an association that mobilizes hundreds of volunteers.
A turning point for the parade's logistics
Until now, the lack of space forced part of the material to be stored in private garages and temporarily allocated premises. With the new 180 square meters, the association will centralize all inventory in one location. This will facilitate stock control and the planning of preparations, which begin months before January 5th.
The Mairena del Alcor parade is not just a local event: each year it receives coverage in regional media and attracts tourists from neighbouring provinces. The expansion of the warehouse will help maintain that level of excellence. Additionally, the association will be able to offer guided tours to schoolchildren and groups throughout the year, reinforcing the educational value of the tradition.
The timelines for drafting the project and obtaining licenses are the responsibility of the entity. The Town Hall has committed to expedite the administrative procedures so that the works can begin before the end of 2026. If all goes as planned, the new warehouse will be operational for the 2027 parade.
