The Town Hall of Tomares has activated 26 Summer Camps and 6 Municipal Sports Schools so that children and young people can enjoy the summer while their parents work. The programme, which started on June 23, runs until September 4.

The mayor of Tomares, José María Soriano, visited the Municipal Summer Camps and Sports Schools on Thursday, July 9, accompanied by the Youth Councillor, Alejandro García. The initiative, launched by the Town Council, aims to provide families with tools to reconcile work and family life during the school holidays, while the little ones participate in educational leisure activities.

An offer of 26 camps and 6 sports schools

In total, the programme includes 26 Summer Camps, which are divided into 22 Innovate Camps and 4 Sports Camps. The Innovate Camps, in turn, are organised into 11 ‘Innova Kids’ (for children aged 3 to 10) and 11 ‘Innova Teens’ (for young people aged 9 to 16), focused on fostering creativity, new technologies, and innovation. The Sports Camps cover disciplines such as pre-sport, football, basketball, and skating, aimed at promoting sports and healthy habits.

Additionally, 6 Municipal Sports Schools (EDM) of Summer have been launched, which include swimming for babies, initiation and improvement, aquagym (in July and August), as well as tennis and paddle (in July and September). All activities are supervised by specialised monitors, and children enjoy educational games daily and, starting from 1:00 PM, swimming in the municipal pool.

Timings and services designed for families

The camps run weekly until September 4, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the possibility of extending hours from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and include a dining service. “One of the things I like most about this time of year is seeing so many children and young people enjoying the summer in our municipal camps and sports schools. While they play sports, learn, and have fun with their friends, many families can also reconcile with more peace of mind during these months,” the mayor highlighted during his visit.

The 22 Innovate Camps each week feature different themes adapted to the ages. For the youngest (Innova Kids), themes range from ‘Medievalum’ and ‘Reporters in Action’ to ‘Egypt’, ‘Art’, or ‘Dinosaurs’. For teenagers (Innova Teens), the proposals include urban dance, video games, cooking, drone programming, and 3D printing, among others.

Registrations open all summer

Interested families can register their children at any time during the summer, as places are continuously open. Registration is managed through the Sports Web Portal of the Town Hall of Tomares (deportes.tomares.es) or via the banner on the municipal website (www.tomares.es).

With this initiative, the Tomares Council reinforces its commitment to educational leisure and reconciliation, offering an attractive alternative for young people to make the most of the summer while parents can carry out their workday with greater peace of mind. A formula that, judging by the high participation, seems to have hit the mark.
