The two municipal nursery schools of Sanlúcar la Mayor (Nuestra Señora del Rosario and Platero y Yo) begin tomorrow the school year with maintenance works and new investments of €2,000 in each centre.
The municipal nursery schools of Sanlúcar la Mayor are ready to welcome their students tomorrow, 3rd September, after several weeks of maintenance and improvement works initiated by the Town Hall. The mayor, Raúl Castilla, visited both centres accompanied by the councillors for Education, Amparo López; Works and Services, Juan Salado; the head of the area, Juan Gutiérrez; and Finance, Laura Luna.
At the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Nursery School, the director Lola Castaño and her team, consisting of three educators and two assistants, welcomed the delegation. The centre caters to 23 children spread across four classrooms. The works have included painting the facilities, pruning and conditioning the outdoor areas, and cleaning the play area, carried out by municipal workers from Works and Services.
Additionally, an investment of €2,000 is planned for this centre to install a new awning over the sandpit area in the coming months. During the visit, the need to incorporate more trees into the playground to expand shaded areas was also discussed.
Meanwhile, the Platero y Yo Nursery School, directed by Rocío Rodríguez, has six classes, seven educators, and three assistants to cater to 76 students. In this case, new furniture has been purchased for the entire centre, and maintenance works have also been carried out by municipal staff. The planned investment here also amounts to €2,000 to continue improving the facilities.
The Department of Education has coordinated with the management of the centres regarding the identified needs and the follow-up of the improvements. The school year will start gradually: at Platero y Yo, the 2-year-old students will attend from 10:00 to 11:00 hours, while those aged 0 and 1 year will attend from 11:30 to 12:30 hours. At Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the initial day will be for adaptation, with an approximate duration of one hour.
The Town Hall is also preparing to create a pool of educators through a selection process, aimed at streamlining replacements and providing more stability to the staff during the school year. This measure seeks to ensure the continuity of service in the event of possible absences.
