Seville City Council allocates €540,840 to the reform of CEIP Sor Ángela de la Cruz, in San Julián. The project will create a new Special Education Area and renovate the administrative facilities.

Seville City Council continues to improve public schools in the city. The reform project for CEIP Sor Ángela de la Cruz, located in the San Julián neighbourhood, has already drafted its Basic and Execution Project and is now undergoing the internal administrative processing prior to the bidding for the works. The planned investment amounts to €540,840.

The action will reorganise the centre to create spaces for Special Education students and renew the administrative and family support facilities. In total, the project covers an area of 357.56 square metres, of which 321.91 corresponds to built-up area and 35.65 to external landscaping. The expected execution period, once the work begins, is eight months.

One of the main changes will be the creation of a new Special Education Area in the space currently occupied by Administration. It will feature a classroom of over 40 square metres, small offices for individual support, and an adapted toilet for people with reduced mobility.

Meanwhile, Administration will move to the area closest to the school's entrance, mainly to the former caretaker's residence. There, a lobby will be set up for receiving and assisting families, a counter, toilets, an office for the parents' association, a reprographics area, offices for the Principal and Head of Studies, and facilities for teachers and administrative staff.

The reform will include a thorough renewal of the facilities: masonry and insulation, plumbing, new sanitary fixtures, renewal of the electrical installation, flooring and cladding, carpentry and windows, among other improvements. Climate control for heating and cooling will also be installed in the new Special Education Area, and the adiabatic cooling system in the new Administration Area will be reinforced and expanded to reach eleven outlets.

To accommodate the works alongside the functioning of the centre, the project establishes a phased execution. First, the new Special Education Area will be tackled, and once completed and the students have moved, the new Administration Area will be executed.

The Education delegate has highlighted that this is a very important action that responds to a long-standing demand from the school.

"We are not talking about a one-off repair, but about a comprehensive transformation of its spaces to adapt them to the real needs of the centre and, especially, to the students in Special Education," the delegate pointed out.

She also explained that the project is already drafted, has a planned investment exceeding €540,000, and is undergoing the necessary internal administrative processing to advance towards the bidding for the works.

The action responds to a need that CEIP Sor Ángela de la Cruz has been raising for years. According to the school's management, in 2018, during the previous municipal government of the PSOE, the only thing sent to the school was a distribution plan, a drawing that reflected a possible layout of part of the facilities. It was not a preliminary project or a technical project, and it did not cover the entire area that the current project intends to address.

The delegate explained that, according to the school, in 2018 they only received a distribution plan, a drawing of part of the facilities, not a preliminary project or a technical project, and that layout did not encompass the entire area that is now going to be acted upon.

"Today we have a complete Basic and Execution Project, with a planned investment exceeding €540,000 and currently undergoing administrative processing prior to its bidding," she stated.

"Our goal is to continue advancing so that a need that the school has been raising for years can finally become a real action that improves the daily lives of the students, professionals, and families of Sor Ángela de la Cruz," concluded the delegate.

Once the internal administrative processing is completed, the City Council will be able to move towards the bidding for the works. The work will have an execution period of eight months from its start.
