The Town Hall of Tomares has awarded the prizes for the IV Charity Summer Tennis-Paddle Tournament, organised by the Hermandad del Rocío in collaboration with the Council. The proceeds will be allocated to the social work of the brotherhood.
Sport and solidarity once again joined hands in Tomares. The Town Hall presented the trophies to the winners of the IV Charity Summer Tennis-Paddle Tournament of the Hermandad del Rocío of Tomares on Wednesday, July 8, an event that has become a summer tradition in the municipality of Aljarafe.
The competition, held from June 23 to July 2, took place at the courts of the Miguel Ángel Blanco Sports Complex and the Municipal Sports Centre Camino Viejo. In total, dozens of participants competed in tennis and paddle categories, with a common goal: to raise funds for the social work that the Hermandad del Rocío carries out throughout the year.
The tournament champions
In tennis, Alfonso Solorzano was crowned champion of the first category, while Pedro Fernández did the same in the second. The runners-up were Mario Macías (first) and Fran Cano (second).
In paddle, the pair Gallardo-Parrilla took the title in the first category, and the duo Luque-Luque did the same in the second. The runners-up were López-Parrilla (first) and Merina-Villegas (second).
The trophies were presented by the special delegate for Sports of the Town Hall of Tomares, Antonio Parrilla, who highlighted the charitable nature of the event and the involvement of the local residents.
More than just a competition
The tournament, which is organised every summer, is much more than a simple sports competition. The funds raised are entirely allocated to the social work of the Hermandad del Rocío of Tomares, which carries out projects throughout the year to assist families in vulnerable situations, support the elderly, and other charitable initiatives.
For the residents of Tomares, this tournament represents an opportunity to enjoy sports while contributing to a charitable cause. Additionally, the municipal facilities come alive during the competition days, promoting sports practice and camaraderie among participants.
The Town Hall wishes to thank the Hermandad del Rocío for their work and all the athletes for their participation, encouraging citizens to continue supporting such initiatives that combine sport and solidarity.
Those who wish to know more details about the tournament or the social work can check the Council's social media or the municipal website. Next year, there will surely be a new edition with the same enthusiasm and, hopefully, more participants.
