The Mairena del Aljarafe Town Hall has presented the Mairena Al Día plan, endowed with €11.3 million to modernise essential services such as public lighting, gardening, and pavements.

The mayor of Mairena del Aljarafe, Antonio Conde, unveiled the Mairena Al Día plan this Wednesday, an ambitious initiative that allocates €11.3 million to the modernisation of basic services in the municipality. The proposal addresses the updating of key areas such as gardening, pavement maintenance, public lighting, and educational centres, constituting the largest investment in the renewal of basic infrastructure in the town's history.

The project focuses on everyday services that directly affect residents, from streets and parks to lighting and schools. Conde explained that "the Mairena government has great projects for the future, but also for the present; it has a city and neighbourhood project." The mayor acknowledged that "basic services were becoming inadequate for today's Mairena" and that "these everyday services are key to the lives of residents, because when they work, they represent quality of life."

The launch of Mairena Al Día is the result of work that began in 2023, following the renewal of the street cleaning service. Since then, the Town Hall has developed the necessary technical, administrative, and contracting planning to progressively address the updating of the remaining essential services.

Renovation of the gardening service

The plan includes the modernisation of the gardening service with an investment of €2.05 million over two years, extendable for another two. This update will improve the maintenance of green areas and public spaces in the municipality, something that residents will notice in the parks and gardens of their daily lives.

Improvement of pavements and urban surfaces

Mairena Al Día includes a new maintenance service for pavements, urban surfaces, and badly damaged asphalt points, endowed with €2.4 million for two years extendable for another two. Additionally, the tree pits in the locality will be renewed with an investment of €400,000 and a six-month execution period. Pedestrians will notice the difference in the sidewalks of the urban centre and neighbourhoods.

Comprehensive update of public lighting

One of the most notable actions is the comprehensive renewal of municipal public lighting, with an investment of €5.8 million that will allow its update throughout the municipal area within an initial period of one year. This will result in improved energy efficiency and street safety, an aspect that residents have been demanding for some time.

Painting of educational centres and renewal of vehicles

The plan also includes a new painting service for public educational centres, with a budget of €576,000 for two years extendable for another two. Finally, the renewal of two vehicles intended for municipal infrastructure services is planned, with an investment of €128,000. The mayor has emphasised that these actions aim to "update" a municipality that has grown significantly in recent years and needs services that are up to standard.

With this plan, Mairena del Aljarafe becomes one of the first municipalities in Aljarafe to undertake such an ambitious renewal of its basic services. Residents will begin to notice improvements in the coming months as contracts are awarded and works executed. The Town Hall anticipates that the plan will be fully operational within a two-year horizon, with lighting as the absolute priority.
